From watching ford’s most recent posts I am noticing a trend of an image they are trying to communicate to a consumer. It is no secret that every year more and more electric cars are produced, energy efficient low emission cars are flooding the market at a rate that many Americans are not too fond of. Many companies have focussed much of their marketing on these new machines.
And then there’s ford.
Unknowingly I had my Iphone on near full volume when I opened up fords tik tok page. I was immediately blasted with the roar of a mustang doing a burnout on a track in the middle of some desert somewhere. The video under it was just as loud, a teaser of a new version of the mustang they are launching soon, engines revving over a silhouette of the car.
It seems as if Ford is trying to communicate to their 5.4 million followers that nothing can/will ever replace the feeling of a classic, gas powered muscle car.
I scoured the comment sections of both their instagram and their tik tok page. Most people praised their loud posts one comment was even one word, “BADASS” with a fire emoji after it. It was interesting to see that fords social media team did not even reply to the most popular comments. I follow many companies on instagram and many of them have returned comments to random questions or concerns in the comment section. This raises the question: why not? This is something I will be monitoring as the project progresses.
